08:15 < mnemoc> does it run? *g*
08:16 < mipe> dont know,wanna fix bdb and libjpeg first :)
08:16 < mnemoc> :)
08:44 < mipe> hmm, libjpeg error is wierd,it tries to call ./libtool and ofcouse it isnt in same dir

10:00 < rxr> mipe: you have no glibc32 and grub built ?
10:01 < rxr> I'm quite curious about your modifications ..

10:01 < rxr> working as regular in my parent's guest room ...
10:01 < rxr> yesterday was my mom's birthday and - well - my granfathers funeral ... :-(
10:02 < rxr> Firefox 1.0.1 Released

10:06 < mipe> atm testing bootdisk
10:19 < mipe> but bootdisk fails on entering stage 2 while building cmd_wrapper,no stddef.h, bootdisk is using dietlibc?

10:30 < rxr> hm - and the file is really not there?
10:30 < mipe> well its under include/linux
10:30 < rxr> and if not - i it presen on your nomal build ?
10:31 < rxr> btw. /me updating firefox ...
10:31 < mipe> nope its not in my fresh build and on my system build for amd64,in all cases its under include/linux/stddef.h and not directly root of include
10:33 < rxr> hm
10:41 < mipe> hmm,/usr/dietlibc/include does have it on root, but /usr/x86*/ is link to /usr/include should it be link to /usr/dietlibc/include?
10:41 < rxr> no
10:41 < rxr> the main library if the glibc - dietlibc is only used for some stuff
10:41 < rxr> (on the bootdisk)
10:45 < mipe> hmm,error comes actually after 2-gcc is build
10:52 < mipe> oh and rxr: on my kernel build for syne target,it doesnt set CONFIG_PENTIUM4=Y and CONFIG_SMP=Y
10:53 < rxr> why do you think that options should be set?
10:53 < rxr> do you enter them somewhere?
10:53 < mipe> doesnt it check from optimization setted in config? this is in my laptop build
10:53 < rxr> pentium4 should be sest, yes
10:54 < mipe> but it doenst :(

12:09 < mipe> hmm, stage 2 gcc does something wierd for cmd_raper build,on entering stage 2 it builds fine but after gcc build it rebuilds tools and cmd_wrapper fails
12:09 < mipe> ups
12:09 < mipe> cmd_raper = cmd_wrapper
12:10 < rxr> maybe the newly built gcc has some problem ?
12:11 < mipe> prolly,but is there a much a diffrence between 1-gcc and 2-gcc?
12:16 < rxr> mostly that the 2-gcc includes all the languages and such ...

20:43 < rxr> hi lars
20:44 < lars> Hi, I just noticed, that the Desktop target does not include xpdf --- is this right? However, when I try to Emerge-Pkg xpdf from trunk I get Packages scheduled to build: and nothing more. What does this mean?
20:44 < rxr> lars: that Emerge think the latesst version is installed
20:44 < rxr> add -force
20:44 < lars> but were it got installed?
20:44 < rxr> xpdf did not compile on my rs6k build - I overlooked that - and accidently released the CD without it
20:45 < lars> ok, I try it with -force
20:45 < rxr> the meta data is in /var/adm/package
20:45 < lars> ok, seems to work now
20:45 < rxr> hm - I see only the library stuff was installed
20:46 < rxr> maybe some motif whatever was missing when it was built
20:46 < lars> Are there some more packages not included on the isos?
20:46 < rxr> lars: today you joined to tell some ppc install problems ?
20:47 < lars> Ah, I remember - but when I wanted to start, I student came in my office and I had to talk with him about his thesis --- never read a text with so much errors...
20:48 < rxr> oh .oO
20:49 < rxr> btw. I have a new hair cut since today ;-)
20:49 < rxr> http://exactcode.de/rene/me-$3103-low.jpg
20:49 < lars> last night I installed t2 --- due to an overheating of my wlan-usb-stick the 2nd iso got corrupted and the installation of such basic packages like net-tools and linux-header faild. Unfortuatenally I noticed that only when my old system was already deleted. And my old desktop does not have a network card at the moment.
20:50 < lars> wow, new hair cut? a hair cut at all?
20:50 < mnemoc> hehe
20:50 < _Ragnar_> ;)
20:51 < lars> prepaired for the cebit...
20:52 < mnemoc> yeah, rene with 'corporative' look
20:53 < rxr> hm - static template class memebers get on my nerves ..
20:53 < rxr> lars: any other problems aside the corrupted CD ?
20:53 < rxr> s/problems/major problems/
20:54 < lars> back to my t2 installation -- finally I got the 2nd iso downloaded for a 2nd time (we have a volum tarif :=( and got everythink up running. Without problems.
20:54 < lars> Ah there was one more problem: the kernel
20:54 < rxr> ah - nice
20:54 < rxr> kernel ?
20:54 < lars> I need > 2.6.11-rc4 because of the sleep-patch thing.
20:55 < mnemoc> lars: 2.6.11-rc4 is on bleeding branch
20:55 < mnemoc> lars: you can merge locally and build
20:56 < rxr> lars: .11 will include G4 sleep stuff ?
20:56 < CIA-9> amery * r6816 /trunk/package/base/runit/djb-config: * fixed runit to really install it's docs and man pages
20:57 < lars> yes, since 2.6.11-rc4 the radeon sleep patch for g4 is in there-- beside lots of other ppc fixes from benh
20:57 < lars> How, can I resume a build, after it faild once?
20:57 < mnemoc> Build-Target again
20:58 < lars> Oh, with that the kernel build would have been easier a lot...
20:58 < rxr> lars: a single package build can not be resumed
20:58 < lars> Ah, that was my question.
20:59 < rxr> beside manual ./debug.sh for debugging
20:59 < mnemoc> ccache gives you a kind-of-resume
20:59 < rxr> bseide that configure is slow like h*ll
20:59 < lars> It was quiete anoying to restart the kernel build after each patch that did not apply and each config that caused trouble
21:00 < rxr> well resuming package builds is nearly impossible to implement
21:00 < lars> finally I used my own kernel.conf but then the post-hook thing failed -- complaining that I did not download all the sources before.
21:01 < lars> I mean the sources for the packages that should have been updated by after the kernel build.
21:01 < rxr> yeah ... - the post package 3rd party kernel modules build I guess ?
21:02 < lars> I dont know: The message was something about cloop or so...
21:02 < rxr> I need to implement some sane Downloa d automatic for those
21:02 < rxr> yes - than it was the integrated 3rd party module build
21:02 < mnemoc> rxr: you can check for postlinux.conf's [D] existence on linux26's preconf
21:03 < lars> Moreover the system does boot or not nondeterministically
21:03 < rxr> lars: as before on your g4, right ?
21:03 < lars> it hangs on loading drm - or not and it hangs when starting cups - or not...
21:03 < rxr> hm
21:04 < rxr> never had such problems ...
21:04 < lars> yes, but with the last kernel (2.6.9 + sleep patch) the problem was gone.
21:04 < rxr> hm
21:04 < lars> now it is there again.
21:04 < lars> How can I rebuild the drm moduls from xorg?
21:05 < mnemoc> lars: rebuilding linux26
21:05 < rxr> well - they are build inside the linux26 package so all 3rd party modules are present for all kernels
21:05 < rxr> and exactly match to the kernel's config
21:06 < lars> But what when the post-hook fails ...
21:06 < mnemoc> everything fail
21:06 < lars> which is the case here
21:06 < rxr> you can speed the build up by setting ROCKDEBUG_SUBMODULES_ONLY or so (grep the linux24.conf for DEBUG) to only build the 3rd party modules)
21:06 < rxr> btw. we need to rename the DEBUG vars ...
21:07 < rxr> lars: download all packages with postlinux.conf before
21:07 < rxr> ./scripts/Download `ls package/*/*/postlinux.conf | cut -d/ -f 3 `
21:07 < rxr> or so
21:08 < rxr> e.g. you also get the matching mol module doing so ...
21:08 < rxr> the only missing piece is automatic downloading when you say Download linux26 ...
21:08 < rxr> that is why the package build fails later on
21:08 < lars> Copy and pasted the command - seems to work
21:09 < rxr> http://babbage.cs.qc.edu/STL_Docs/templates.htm
21:10 < mnemoc> rxr: automatic downloading must wait until 'extensions and branching' on 2.x, x>>1 but checking their presence on preconf can be done easily
21:11 < rxr> for a clean implementation, yes
21:11 < rxr> however I might hack s.th. to please users in 2.1
21:11 < lars> by the way: xpdf faild to build:
21:11 < mnemoc> i don't like the idea of hacking into Download now

21:15 < lars> mnemoc:there is nothing more in the log-file.
21:16 < mnemoc> lars: there should be a complete src.xpdf.1109360737.26277.103c0a8/ERROR-LOG file
21:16 < lars> ok, nothing which seems interesting to me.
21:16 < mnemoc> lars: do you have XTRACE enabled?
21:17 < lars> I do not know.
21:17 < rxr> what is the real error before the abort ?
21:17 < rxr> lars: xtrace is extra debugging to be enabled in Config
21:19 < lars> I can not find any error message. Here are some more lines - before the previous ones:
21:19 < lars> gcc -o .libs/xglyph xglyph.o ../lib/.libs/libt1x.so ../lib/.libs/libt1.so -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXaw -lXt -lXmu -lSM -lICE -lXext -lX11 -lm
21:19 < lars> creating xglyph
21:19 < rxr> hm - ok - maybe some file was not found during a cp or so in the xpdf.conf postmake stuff ?
21:20 < lars> If you do not have an idea, too, I will investigate this offline during the weekend.
21:20 < rxr> hm
21:20 < rxr> hm
21:20 < mnemoc> lars: please enable XTRACE and build again
21:20 < rxr> I need to rewrite the xpdf config
21:20 < rxr> it isugly ...
21:20 < mnemoc> i prefer 'ancient' :)
21:21 < rxr> yes
21:21 < rxr> it is ... either
21:22 < lars> ok, the build with xtrace is on the way...
21:25 < lars> How, do I use ROCK_DEBUG_LINUX_SUBMODULES_ONLY exactly to only build the 3rd party modules? (...)=1 ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg linux26 ?
21:27 < lars> mnemoc: xtrace does not yield anything new in the xpdf log file.
21:27 < mnemoc> lars: can you publish it?
21:27 < rxr> lars yes, use it as you wrote
21:27 < rxr> check the name before
21:28 < mnemoc> package//base/linux24/linux24.conf: if [ -z "$ROCK_DEBUG_LINUX_SUBMODULES_ONLY" ] ; then
21:28 < rxr> ok - name is ok ;-)
21:28 < lars> mnemoc: where/how should I publish it?
21:29 < mnemoc> rxr: can you take a look into distcc please, it doesn't seem to distrubute anything
21:29 < mnemoc> lars: http:// or mailto:amery at geeks dot cl
21:31 < rxr> or the good old list that need traffic ... ;-)
21:31 < mnemoc> t2@exactcode.de :)
21:31 < mnemoc> we are everyday more irc-centric
21:31 < rxr> no ;-)
21:37 < mnemoc> its frustrating to see 3 P4 with distccd up, and a forth suffering to build 1-glibc
21:37 < lars> ok, the file is on the list.
21:38 < _Ragnar_> *g*
21:39 < mnemoc> uhm
21:41 < mnemoc> lars: cd src.xpdf.1109362935.2867.103c0a8/; ./debug.sh; cd T1Lib-1.3/xglyph; eval "$MAKE $makeopt"
21:43 < mnemoc> echo $?

21:53 < lars> there is no [C]
21:53 < mnemoc> .desc sorry
21:53 < mnemoc> too hot here
21:58 < lars> I just noticed that latex as well as pdflatex both produce pdf output on my system. I recently (this evening) emerged tetex-3 from trunk
21:59 < lars> ah, xpdf build terminates with:

22:00 < lars> seems that we have a tetex problem.
22:00 < mnemoc> :)
22:02 < lars> rxr: one more question. Do you have *.gem packages for ppc of the kde4 stuff?
22:04 < rxr> re
22:05 < rxr> 3.4, hm?
22:05 < rxr> I built it on my iBook
22:05 < lars> aha
22:05 < rxr> the next iso will include it ..
22:05 < rxr> but here in lauenau at my parents they have a volume dsl connection and I fear uploading them ...
22:05 < rxr> hm - I could built them at home remotely ..
22:06 < lars> ah, you are in lauenau?
22:06 < rxr> yep
22:06 < lars> I can wait, there is no hurry.
22:06 < rxr> my mother had birthday - and my grandpa died ... - and then cebit is soon
22:06 < CIA-9> rene * r6817 /trunk/package/network/plptools/ (. gcc34.patch plptools.conf plptools.desc): * added plptools - does not build yet
22:06 < lars> by the way, from lauenau it is not the far to saarbruecken as from berlin ...
22:07 < rxr> yeah - but my money is stressed enough already
22:07 < lars> sorry for your grandpa...
22:07 < rxr> visiting you over there will need to wait some more weeks
22:07 < rxr> especially due to the color laser printer I invested into
22:07 < rxr> lars: thanks
22:09 < lars> you already got some money from the mac os scanner driver job?
22:10 < rxr> nope
22:10 < rxr> guess after cebit when more of the contract points have been fullfilled
22:11 < rxr> e.g. we need a german localization before we can demand money
22:11 < rxr> and I fixed all the stability bugs only on wednesday ...
22:11 < rxr> programming under osx is annoying like h*** ... :-(
22:11 < rxr> we never will do that again ...
