10:49 < mtr> ;-)

11:09 < mtr> and stay some seconds longer around ;-)
11:09 < mtr> hi rxr
11:14 < rxr> yeah
11:14 < rxr> hi mtr
11:14 < mtr> 2.6.19.1 does not properly recognize my ide disk:
11:14 < mtr> kernel: ata5: PATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x1F0 ctl 0x3F6 bmdma 0xF000 irq 14
11:14 < mtr> kernel: ata5: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0xd0)
11:14 < mtr> kernel: ata5: port failed to respond (30 secs, Status 0xd0)
11:14 < rxr> merry christmas and a happy new year
11:15 < mtr> merry christmas rxr, and greatings to susan
11:17 < rxr> is your port SATA or PATA ? did it work with older kernels ?
11:20 < mtr> no problems until .19, this new pata-amd driver seems to be the culprit
11:21 < rxr> I guess that is the one using libata ?
11:22 < mtr> hmm, not sure
11:22 * mtr searching LKML

14:18 < d-marc> hope you had a good christmas
14:19 < d-marc> I have played with t2 a bit more and found that root can play sound
14:19 < d-marc> so it must have been a rights problem that I hadn't got sound as normal user

16:34 < rxr> hi d-marc
16:34 < d-marc> hello
16:34 < d-marc> rxr: when is t2 available with a larger binary repository?
16:36 < rxr> you mean for update and install ?
16:36 < CIA-2> rene * r21487 /trunk/package/base/linux24/ (arch-ppc-horizon-name-clash.patch linux24.desc):
16:36 < CIA-2> * re-enabled linux24 by default (2.4.34 does build with GCC-4.x, now)
16:36 < CIA-2> * removed obsolete ppc-horizon-name-clash.patch
16:36 < rxr> about end of january for the desktop flavour, I hope
16:38 < d-marc> I am installing something else right now, because I need something to play with
16:39 < d-marc> but once t2 is ready I am ready too ;)
16:48 < rxr> :-)
16:48 < rxr> what do you install right now ?
16:48 < d-marc> debian
16:49 < d-marc> but I already screwed up
16:49 < d-marc> stable debian is way too old
16:49 < rxr> ouh - ok - debian has binary repos, but everything else sorta sucks a lot ...
16:49 < d-marc> and on testing the kernel had a dependency to intrd-tools which didnt exist anymore
16:50 < d-marc> so now I have a new debian system without any kernels installed and cant boot anymore
16:50 < d-marc> ;)
16:50 < _Ragnar_> lol
16:50 < d-marc> but the funny thing is
16:51 < d-marc> debian even removed all entries from grub, which essentially gave me a computer with "only" windows XP installed
16:52 < d-marc> last time I used debian was over 3 years ago, I didnt have so many problems with testing at that time
16:52 < d-marc> rxr: any ideas what the sound problem could have been?
16:52 < d-marc> root could use the sound card, but a regular user not
16:53 < d-marc> (I still have the 2 T2 CD's at home just in case debian annoys me too much)
16:53 < rxr> normally the devices are suppost to be owned by the audio group
16:53 < rxr> and your user should have been in that grpu
16:53 < d-marc> hmm
16:54 < d-marc> how does your entry in /etc/groups look like?
16:59 < rxr> oehm
16:59 < rxr> I'm on a Geode LX thinclient right now ...
17:21 < d-marc> np
17:21 < d-marc> happy new year to all!
17:21 < d-marc> bye!
17:24 < rxr> by d-marc
17:24 < rxr> happy new year to you too

17:26 * emte__ is curious which debian d-marc installed
17:26 -!- emte__ is now known as emte
17:27 < emte> etch behaves very well
17:28 < emte> as for the old comment ... people really have no idea anymore what stable means
17:30 < emte> reminds me i should update before i have another thousand files out of sync, updates that large worry me
17:35 < CIA-2> rene * r21488 /trunk/package/filesystem/squashfs-tools/linux-2.4.33.patch: * fixed squashfs for linux24 with GCC-4.x

17:49 < rxr> heh
17:49 < rxr> the biggest indication that we have a lot packages ?
17:49 < rxr> grep ixjuser.h build/default-7.0-trunk-reference-x86-athlon-xp/var/adm/flists/*
17:49 < rxr> bash: /bin/grep: Argument list too long
17:50 < _Ragnar_> lol
17:52 < rxr> hi _Ragnar_
17:52 < _Ragnar_> re rene
17:53 < _Ragnar_> new irssi seems to have a little bug when its terminal output blocks (like ctrl+s)
17:53 < rxr> whats happening then?
17:54 < _Ragnar_> core dump
17:54 < rxr> (btw. our top has a bug when the number of CPUs do not fit on the screen - it crashes on a 24 or 32 core Sun Niagara in that case on a normal sized terminal with 24/25 lines)
17:54 < _Ragnar_> looool
17:55 < rxr> (only when you hit the 1 for per CPU stats that is of course :-)
17:56 < _Ragnar_> still, that is kinda stupid ;P
17:56 < rxr> definetly ...
17:56 < rxr> guess in former times noone bothered to think about > 4 CPU boxes ...
17:56 < _Ragnar_> yea
17:56 < rxr> however I admit I also was lame and did not track it - but just resized my xterms :-)
17:57 < rxr> however I only had limited access to the box and wanted to make sure the more serious parts of T2 support those boxes correctly
17:57 < _Ragnar_> lol
17:57 < rxr> that bug was on the "nice to have list"
17:57 < rxr> I
17:58 < rxr> 'll track it the next time I get such a shiny metal from Sun
18:00 < rxr> I could try to reproduce it on a sufficently small xterm on a 4 core box or so :-()
18:02 < rxr> ok - I'm heading home
18:02 < rxr> cu later
18:02 < _Ragnar_> cya
18:02 < _Ragnar_> take care
