08:27 < AStorm> Hi people.
08:28 < AStorm> So, we're in the same, or very close, timezone ;>
08:29 < CIA-18> rene * r23211 /trunk/package/filesystem/dmapi/dmapi.desc: * changed dmapi build priority (183.700 -> 183.701) and added the missing checksum
08:29 < rxr> AStorm: you wrote TU the other day, guess some technical uniservity in germany, hm ?
08:29 < rxr> then we are in the same country ...
08:31 < AStorm> No, Poland.
08:31 < AStorm> It's actually a polytechnic, I wrote TU, because there's no better equivalent in English :>
08:32 < AStorm> The English name is actually "Warsaw University of Technology" (or something full of itself like that)
08:33 < AStorm> (and easy to mix up with The University or Warsaw)
08:33 < AStorm> *of
08:33 < AStorm> Blah.
08:33 < AStorm> :>
08:35 < th> rxr: ahh. you added dmapi. i'm impressed :)
08:36 < AStorm> :O
08:36 < rxr> th: yesterday already ...
08:36 < AStorm> Indeed.
08:36 < th> just saw the r23211
08:37 < AStorm> Guess I've to step up my T2 devel to keep up with him :>
08:37 < AStorm> Hmm... another personal TODO: add chrooting support for Exim
08:37 < rxr> AStorm: in the past Exim chroot worked
08:38 < rxr> I even use it on a server
08:38 < AStorm> I hope so :>
08:38 < rxr> do you get a build error or runtime ?
08:38 < AStorm> So, make that: "fix Exim chrooting support"
08:38 < AStorm> No, it just isn't chrooted.
08:38 < AStorm> There's no option, even.
08:39 < CIA-18> rene * r23212 /trunk/scripts/config.in:
08:39 < CIA-18> * fixed the top-level config script to not hardcode disabling of
08:39 < CIA-18> gettext when DISABLE_NLS is selected, if this functionality indeed
08:39 < CIA-18> is wanted the code should be living inside the gettext package
08:40 < AStorm> It runs as a separate user, though.
08:41 < AStorm> It's good that it doesn't require SUID like certain other servers... when using POSIX capabilities.
08:41 < AStorm> (Just give it the capability for low port numbers, if you need the 25 port)
08:42 < AStorm> If you don't (the proper port numbers are 487 and 567 AFAIR), then it's even better.
08:43 < AStorm> Well, some stupid broken servers do require that you connect to them from port 25 - ignore them :>
08:43 < AStorm> They ignore GMail due to that misconfiguration.
08:44 < AStorm> It's like 0,1% of network servers with stupid fascist admins and hard RBL/SPF :>
08:45 < AStorm> (which aren't needed, anyway - weighted ones are better)
08:45 < AStorm>
08:45 < rxr> :-)
08:47 < AStorm> Simple MX check cuts about... 66% of spam
08:47 < AStorm> (mx of the sending IP, not of the "From" server)
08:47 < AStorm> (as some broken software like Sendmail in the default config assume)
08:49 < AStorm> Hmm, I've to bind CRM114 more closely to Exim, for the mail server I'm running
08:49 < AStorm> Add aliases there and not in /etc/mail/aliases
08:49 < AStorm> More TODOs :P
08:50 < AStorm> Finish own set of scripts, remove maildrop for instance
08:50 < AStorm> (not needed, CRM can deliver on it's own - it has file writing capabilities and can run "flock" :> )
08:53 < AStorm> Or maybe... I'll leave maildrop in place - and tell users they can do their own filtering with it. :>
08:53 < AStorm> Currently it's a simple sample file for use with CRM114, and each mail account is also a system account with disabled login - a bit less secure than virtual accounts
08:55 < AStorm> THe nicest property of CRM114 is that it doesn't do hell if nobody trains it.
08:55 < AStorm> Just adds its headers with zeroes.
08:59 < AStorm> I run it very conservatively by default - just a [SPAM] tag
08:59 < AStorm> and a mail on the first spam classification on how to use the filter.
09:00 < AStorm> (this means, if someone sends mail to spam-)
09:01 < AStorm> It doesn't necessarily have to be mail to be classified.
09:01 < AStorm> The help info is sent at most once a week :P
09:01 < AStorm> (anti-DoS)
09:36 < rxr> th: should I updload the image to some box over at you?
09:43 < CIA-18> rene * r23213 /trunk/package/x11/blackbox/blackbox.conf: * do not hardcode --disable-nls in blackbox and fixed the file indention on-the-way

11:38 < Capey> rxr: did you last ref build of wrt2 break?
11:40 < rxr> only on this zebra fork
11:40 < rxr> quagga
11:41 < Capey> hmm, damm... everything else builded right?
11:42 < rxr> think so
11:42 < Capey> i wonder why i get errors from busybox with those sched_*affinity stuff...
11:47 < th> rxr: that would be cool. but i could also start some http get?

15:06 < th> oehm. do i really need to plug a mouse?
15:06 < th> is there a secret root pw set?
15:06 < th> i could not find a key combination which opens me some xterm
15:06 < th> (i'm talking of the live target)
15:07 < rxr> maybe I ddi not add a key combination
15:07 < rxr> root password should be empty
15:09 < th> i only get /etc/issues's when i try to login
15:09 < th> so it might be empty and the shell broken
15:09 < th> i dont know
15:09 < th> hmm
15:11 < rxr> hm - indeed
15:11 < rxr> damn - on the last release that did work ..
15:11 < rxr> any chance to plug in a mouse to grab an xterm ?
15:13 < rxr> well - I can quickly rebuild it with the blank password working ...
15:13 < th> i can try
15:13 < th> despite being a pure server in a rack, i think a mouse should not be impossible
15:14 < rxr> I can have it rebuild in 10 minutes
15:14 < rxr> most of the time is taken by requashfsing ...
15:14 < rxr> re-squashfs-ing even ...
15:15 < rxr> do you use it for XFS repair or found something else in the meantime ?
15:19 < th> oh wow.
15:19 < th> yes
15:19 < th> i got a term
15:19 < th> i still need it to do the xfs_repair
15:19 < th> but it's currently still in production. so cant do it now
15:19 < th> this build lacks some candy
15:20 < th> like `ping`
15:20 < th> and perhaps telnet
15:20 < th> ohwell and a dhcp client ;)
15:20 < th> dhcpcd perhaps. that's cooler than the ISC crap
15:21 < rxr> it should have udhcpd stuff
15:21 < th> ahh it's no openssh
15:21 < rxr> I know it misses telnet and ping :-) wanted ot hunt some non netkit_ stuff ...
15:21 < rxr> it has dropbear
15:21 < th> yea
15:21 < rxr> we should link it to ssh probably ...
15:22 < th> 15:21:31 < th> ahh it's no openssh
15:22 < rxr> ssh -> dropbear
15:22 < th> it HAS a ssh
15:22 < th> /usr/bin/ssh
15:22 < th> lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Mar 26 12:21 /usr/bin/ssh -> dbclient
15:22 < rxr> well - the first rescue was just testing how tiny one can get a T2 live-cd "in a day"
15:22 < th> root:*:::::::
15:22 < th> (/etc/shadow)
15:22 < rxr> yeah - fixed that
15:22 < rxr> patching the * away ...
15:23 < rxr> rsync already running
15:23 < th> it would be even better to set it to some password
15:23 < th> and show the pw in /etc/issue
15:23 < th> because you cant do some things with a blank pw
15:23 < rxr> that would be a good idea as well
15:23 < th> ohh and it needs sshd
15:23 < rxr> it has the dropbear server :-)
15:23 < th> oha
15:23 < th> how do i use that?
15:24 < th> Dropbear sshd v0.49
15:24 < th> mhmh
15:24 < rxr> dropbear
15:24 < rxr> dropbearkey -t rsa -f /etc/dropbear/dropbear_rsa_host_key
15:24 < rxr> et al
15:24 < rxr> the point of the rescue was to be as much as possible under 50MB
15:24 < th> -bash: passwd: command not found
15:25 < rxr> of course with the multilib glibc build I handed you this is pointless ...
15:25 < th> yepp. i'm not complaining. i'm just suggesting for another target... a advanced rescue thing
15:25 < rxr> yeah - the rescue is intended for rescue, not for installation
15:25 < rxr> however I'll ad passwd along ping and telnet to the TODO list :-)
15:25 < th> yea i want to rescue from remote ;)
15:25 < rxr> those are tiny anyway ...
15:26 < th> what the DES of "root"?
15:26 < rxr> th: cut'n paste from another systems :-)
15:27 < th> ahh got it
15:27 < rxr> heh - all thos were on my list already :-)
15:27 < rxr> T-Resc: ping, su, passwd, lsof, telnet, tcpdump
15:27 < rxr> I'll add root password printed in the issue
15:27 < th> wow there is even screen
15:27 < th> is screen a real screen? or a beary droppy screen?
15:28 < rxr> I know no other screen ...
15:28 < rxr> though that would be great as screen sucks ...
15:28 < th> screen sucks?
15:28 < th> why do you think so?
15:28 < rxr> the source ...
15:28 < rxr> I once wanted to make ot cross compile and had to look to deeply into the code ...
15:28 < th> ah ok
15:29 < th> /dev/hda 70M 70M 0 100% /media/live
15:29 < th> /dev/loop0 1007M 15M 992M 2% /mnt/live
15:29 < th> none 1007M 15M 992M 2% /mnt/overlay
15:29 < th> none 1007M 15M 992M 2% /mnt/live
15:30 < th> btw - you meant the 'non-existing users' warnings for udev, right?
15:30 < rxr> yes
15:31 < th> oh you're booting with grub completely?
15:31 < rxr> th: if you ask what the mounting above is about, it is the r/w overlaying with a RAM tmpfs
15:31 < rxr> yes
15:31 < rxr> in T2/trunk you even can select the boot method for x86/x86-64, grub or isolinux ...
15:32 < th> -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 26 12:59 .wh..wh.aufs
15:32 < th> drwx------ 2 root root 40 Mar 26 12:59 .wh..wh.plink
15:32 < th> looks interesting
15:32 < rxr> those are unionfs / aufs write out files ...
15:33 < th> so how would i save my changes permanently?
15:33 < rxr> when a file is unlinked or moved those control meta data are created by the "stacking" unionfs's
15:33 < th> let's say to usb stick?
15:33 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/targets/live/overlays.html
15:33 < rxr> currently we only implemented overlays resisting on the same media
15:34 < th> ahh ok
15:34 < rxr> when you boot from the usbstick you would gain a permanent write overlay with a live-rw-whatever.ext2 file on it ...
15:34 < th> i thought i could just grab my current changes
15:34 < rxr> searching on all devices or manual specification could of course be implemented, likewise
15:34 < rxr> yes you can grab your current changes and restore them on the overlay, yes
15:35 < rxr> the files in the /mnt/overlay directory ...
15:35 < th> ahh yes.
15:35 < th> nice
15:35 < rxr> we should indeed implement searching for the overlay on all avaiable block devices
15:35 < rxr> knoppix appears to do something like that
15:36 < rxr> though I did not find the tme to take a closer look

Since yesterday, I removed the PATA hds and i can't boot anymore... I can see the BIOS checkup and it stop with a blinking cursor at the top left corner, nothing else. First, i through I installed grub on a PATA hd my mistake intead of do that on the main SATA hd.
18:41 < LMJ> I reinstalled grub : same problem
18:42 < LMJ> Any ideas why i can't boot anymore ?
