02:13 < teatime07> i'm trying to build a rtbt target, and compiling udev fails. the problem seems to be that libvolume_id.so.0.82.0 is not created (so install fails), although there's no build error
02:13 < teatime07> can someone help me?
02:14 < teatime07> i'd the same problem with any dietlibc based target

08:37 < jeffdamet1> rxr: hello. i saw that something like sysvinit is missing in the neo target. should i better use minit anyway? the problem is that minit doesnt build and sysvinit seems to not work either
08:57 < jeffdamet1> ah nvm. trying upstart now. anyway, if you have any suggestions please let me know
08:57 < jeffdamet1> oh upstart also creates files outside of the allowed top-level dir

09:51 < rxr> moin
09:51 < rxr> jeffdamet1: the feature of our neo target exactly is that the slow, 2m booting sysvinit is _NOT_ used :-)
09:52 < rxr> as the OpenMoko neo boots in like unimpressive 2m ...
09:52 < jeffdamet1> ok and instead it uses ... nothing ? :)
09:54 < jeffdamet1> rxr: some initsystem for /sbin/init is expected by the kernel, isnt it?
10:02 < rxr> ah yes, is there none ?
10:02 < rxr> ah - yeah, maybe not yet indeed
10:03 < rxr> jeffdamet1: as I commented out the busybox symlinking
10:03 < rxr> (due to shared files with the other packages)
10:03 < rxr> the early version was suppost to use busybox for a start
10:03 < rxr> l

14:47 < rxr> jeffdameth: if yo need / want C++ you need to cross build this 1-gcc :-(
14:48 < rxr> but probably you just ask to not get the big payload in the final image for the Neo, right ?
15:46 < jeffdameth> rxr: umm no, i dont want c++ :) my image is already stripped down to 7MB(after removing gcc/docs/nls). but the thing was i had rebuild the whole target pretty often since i didnt found out how to remove packages from the built 'rootfs' when trying different libs(dietlibc, glibc, minit, sysvinit, etc)
15:48 < jeffdameth> right now i ran into the problem again that some compiled libs seem to be no ELF files
15:48 < jeffdameth> rxr: do you know how to check if a .so is correctly crosscompiled?
15:50 < rxr> quick "hack": file
15:50 < rxr> for more details readelf
15:50 < rxr> I see you are already quite into the details and advanced use :-)

17:13 < jeffdameth> nah, the files are all ok. going to buy a new sd card now. nand is way too annoying slow anyway and i heard that jffs2 could cause troubles like this...

17:50 < rxr> hmm
17:50 < rxr> Baldzius: strange, did not know
17:51 < rxr> maybe the new VZ kernel has new bugs, or just too less memory allocated
17:51 < rxr> I can take a look the next time you hit it
17:51 < rxr> btw. in trunk I started to migrate to kde4 + light (read arts and kdelibs only or so) kde3 compat
17:51 < Baldzius> rxr: it seems it's appearing randomly
17:52 < rxr> Baldzius: this is new, like since the last kernel update, right?
17:53 < Baldzius> i noticed it yesterday, but i wasn't using it a lot lately
17:55 < rxr> maybe just kmemsize, I increased that barrier now
17:55 < rxr> let me know if it works better, now
