10:01 < itsu> int t2-trunk grof builds outside chroot , anyone else having this problem ?
10:05 < Baldzius> as far as i recall - no
10:06 < itsu> hmm...
10:06 < Baldzius> which stage?
10:06 < itsu> at stage-0
10:06 < itsu> i did a cleanup but still the same
10:06 < Baldzius> what distribution you are using?
10:06 < itsu> fedora 8
10:07 < itsu> runs fine for quite some time
10:07 < itsu> but occasionaly there are packages that build outside the chroot
10:07 < Baldzius> getting t2 compiled on different distribution is a little painful
10:07 < CIA-15> rene * r28339 /trunk/package/audio/snd/snd.desc: * updated snd (9.7 -> 9.8)
10:08 < itsu> okay so , i have to use a t2 as build host ?
10:08 < rxr> Baldzius: no, usually it shoudl work these days
10:08 < CIA-15> rene * r28340 /trunk/package/network/ziproxy/ziproxy.desc: * updated ziproxy (2.5.0 -> 2.5.1)
10:08 < rxr> usually companies build on FC, SuSE, etc. for heir emebdded products
10:08 < itsu> i'll rerun it and post the errro log
10:08 < rxr> itsu: can you post the full error log somewhere ?
10:09 < itsu> i'm on my way
10:09 < Baldzius> rxr: it was quiet painfull last time when i tried it on Debian
10:09 < Baldzius> but it was 2y ago or so
10:09 < itsu> well it works like 99% of the time
10:10 < itsu> so i'll stick with fedora as host ...

10:58 < tfl0pz> i get following error when i try to build linux26 from trunk on t2-7.0-rc2 (i took squashfs-tools and unionfs from trunk as well)

11:01 < Enqlave> re
11:01 < tfl0pz> Baldzius, 10x i'll try
11:02 < Baldzius> moin Enqlave
11:02 < Baldzius> are you russian? :)
11:02 < tfl0pz> Baldzius, could you tell me please if there are other packages i should copy from trunk, so that i don't ask every time something fails :)
11:03 < Baldzius> tfl0pz: i think it should be enough
11:03 < tfl0pz> ok
11:03 < Baldzius> you get this error because linux26 uses scripts from linux24
11:03 < Baldzius> and there were x86 and 86-64 reunification
11:03 < Baldzius> that's why it fails for you
11:04 < tfl0pz> mhm
11:04 < tfl0pz> well thanks :)
11:04 < Baldzius> if you look closer at log you will see
11:04 < Baldzius> that it can't find x86 arch or so
11:05 < Baldzius> didn't mention that reunification is starting 2.6.24
11:06 < Baldzius> if it fails again it means that there's something else missing
11:15 < tfl0pz> it fails the same way :(
11:17 < rxr> maybe post the full log somewher eß
11:20 < tfl0pz> http://hifort.net/5-linux26.err
11:20 < Enqlave> [13:02'49] Baldzius> are you russian? :) <- yeps
11:20 < Baldzius> Enqlave: what city?
11:21 < Enqlave> capital
11:21 < Baldzius> ic :)
11:21 < Enqlave> *hrhr*
11:21 < rxr> Baldzius: Enqlave is the renamed stelz
11:21 < Enqlave> yeps
11:21 < Baldzius> oh
11:21 < Enqlave> yeh
11:21 < rxr> Baldzius: maybe you remeber him ?
11:21 < Baldzius> i think
11:27 < Baldzius> [tfl0pz: auto_config:68 (last $?=0)> make -j3 ARCH=i386 CROSS_COMPILE= KCC=kcc no2modconfig <-- that's your problem
11:27 < Baldzius> there is no such aarch as i386
11:27 < Baldzius> not sure why it doesn't detect as x86 for you
11:27 < rxr> tfl0pz: did you copy the whole linux24 directory from trunk?
11:28 < tfl0pz> yep
11:28 < rxr> linux26 inherits the basic how-to-build configu from the linux24 package
11:28 < tfl0pz> but it doesn't really seem to pay attention to it
11:30 < Baldzius> could you check package/base/linux24/linux-conf.in
11:30 < Baldzius> lx_cpu=`echo $lx_cpu | sed 's/i386/x86/;s/x86_64/x86/;s/ppc.*/powerpc/'` <-- have this line?
11:31 < tfl0pz> lx_cpu=`echo $arch | arch2uname | sed -e s/ppc.*/powerpc/ -e s/mips64/mips/ -e s/bfin/blackfin/`
11:31 < Baldzius> you didn't copy the file
11:31 < tfl0pz> hm strange i copied the whole dir
11:32 < tfl0pz> i'll see if i messed up smth..
11:36 < tfl0pz> hey that was it.. silly me
11:37 < tfl0pz> thanks a lot
11:37 -!- itsu [n=user@i53874665.versanet.de] has left #t2 []
12:24 < elias`> hm. I have the option for keeping the source dirs checked (=1), yet only the files ERROR-LOG and install_wrapper.log remain there every time a build fails
12:26 < elias`> should that happen?
12:45 < rxr> do you build with tmpfs enabled ?
12:45 < rxr> I also recently tried building with tmpfs and noticed this behaviour
12:46 < elias`> ah yes, I have
12:47 < rxr> when tmpfs was implemented like 5 years or so ago that was probably intended behaviour to not overly fill the RAM ...
13:00 < rxr> but even today some builds like firefox, openoffice, linux kernel could quickly fill erven 8GB++ of RAM :-)
13:17 < elias`> now for some reason (lzma) configure scripts reports C++ compiler unable to produce executables. Will remove build dir and start over. . .
13:20 < rxr> eli [Bnope
13:20 < rxr> wait
13:21 < rxr> that is my fault
13:21 < rxr> I cleaned my WC on my laptop and that changes of lzma was not a good one
13:21 < rxr> let me revert that
13:24 < CIA-15> rene * r28341 /trunk/package/archiver/lzma/lzma.desc: * reverted building of lzma in stage0, simple stage change was not enough, needs more fixing
13:26 < rxr> svn up and continue your build ._)
16:49 < elias`> ok, lzma worked... installperl fails due to having only "lib" in @INC
16:49 < elias`> not sure what the proper way to fix that would be
16:50 < elias`> currently I'm trying to add -Dotherlibdirs=ext to Configure options
16:53 < elias`> though shouldn't the resulting binary have all the /whatever/lib paths in @INC ?
16:53 < rxr> this is 1-perl (cross built)?
16:54 < elias`> yes apparently
16:59 < elias`> ok, it seems actually some of the files failed to compile, which didn't halt the compilation process...
17:00 < elias`> "Can't locate Config.pm in @INC (...)" seems to be the real problem
17:04 < elias`> the whole thing: Can't locate Config.pm in @INC (@INC contains: ../../lib /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0/i686-t2-linux-gnu /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.0 /usr/l
17:04 < elias`> ib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/i686-t2-linux-gnu /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0 /opt/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/i686-t2-linux-g
17:04 < elias`> nu /opt/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0 /opt/lib/perl5/vendor_perl ext .) at ../../lib/ExtUtils/MakeMaker/Config.pm line 6.
17:05 < elias`> if it's at ../../lib/whatever, and @INC contains ../../lib, which has Config.pm at least by the time installperl is invoked, it should find it but doesn't ??
17:09 < tfl0pz> is there a way to force the installation of the kernel source (just checked the option in the config) without thelling t2 to rebuild the kernel
17:24 < rxr> no, you have to rebuild the package
17:24 < rxr> elias`: I would have to take a close look on perl myself
17:25 < rxr> so far I only notived simillar issues since the 5.10 update
17:25 < jmafc> I tried to get some answers on T2 package selection, late on Tuesday (US-EDT), but nobody was able to help (except of elias` who I see is still having trouble). So I sent an email to the list early yesterday, but still no reply. Am I asking the wrong people or maybe the wrong questions? [the title of the email is "How to select which packages to download"]
17:29 < elias`> now I've determined Config.pm in lib doesn't get created until after the errors occur
17:32 < elias`> I'm going to drop investigating that for now though
17:44 -!- jmafc [n=jmafc@pool-96-228-149-95.tampfl.fios.verizon.net] has left #t2 []
17:45 < tfl0pz> are there any known xine-lib problems with t2? something concerning multithreading?
17:52 < rxr> oehm
17:52 < rxr> no idea, why do you ask ?
18:02 < tfl0pz> well we've got a problem with an application using xine-lib, which hangs on ' xine_open_video_driver()'
18:03 < tfl0pz> no idea actually what's the problem.. just guessing

20:41 < tri> hm is a ibm thinkpad x61 a good choose ?
20:42 < rxr> I nearly purchased it
20:42 < rxr> but the at that time tiny display (1024x768) and no DVI drove me away
20:42 < rxr> I just recently foudn out that the x61 tablet flavour has a higher resolution
20:43 < tri> i choose the 1400x1050 one
20:43 < rxr> that's the tablet, right ?
20:43 < rxr> or do they have this res on non-tablets, no ?
20:43 < tri> yes
20:43 < tri> hm i haven't found it on the non-tablets
20:44 < rxr> yeah
20:44 < rxr> probably it is a slick one than
20:44 < rxr> what I mostly miss in PC laptops is a digitial video port
20:44 < rxr> most only have VGA
20:44 < rxr> even on the docking station ...
20:45 < rxr> and I need to connect a decent display for the daily work ...
20:46 < rxr> if you find some time, it would be great if you coudl writup a t2 hardware page for the neat fellow :-)

20:47 < tri> ah cool haven't seen this site yet :-)
20:48 < tri> what about the dell one's - are they compare-eable to the ibm one's ?
20:49 < rxr> I can not really comment on the pc laptops
20:49 < rxr> I only had one PC one in my life and ever got Apple ones thereafter
20:50 < rxr> starting in the iBook time where even back then battery life with PowerPC was like 5h and suspend/resume just worked even under linux
20:51 < rxr> though I liked the PPC ones back then more than the recent Intel ones ...
20:54 < tri> hm bad thing about the tablet one - no thinklight
20:54 < rxr> heh :-)
