14:02 < Baldzius> hey rxr
14:03 < rxr> Baldzius: congratulations to r31000 :-)
14:03 < Baldzius> :)
14:03 < Baldzius> wasn't expecting

14:07 < Baldzius> hey mpp
14:21 < mpp> hey could someone take a look at 2 packages that are broke
14:21 < mpp> xine-lib and loop-aes
14:21 < mpp> i do need them .. :-)
14:22 < mpp> also rpm introduced a new dep on beecrypt
14:24 < Baldzius> mpp: i am going to check xine-lib but my build has still to come up to it
14:24 < Baldzius> and what's wrong with rpm/beecrypt?
14:40 < mpp> beecrypt is now mandatory for building rpm
14:40 < mpp> at least my build system complained about it
14:44 < Baldzius> i think it always was
14:54 < mpp> hm.. okay

20:31 < soopurman> hey guys, what does it take to build T2 on Mac OS X (PowerMac G5, ppc64)? Should I just try it after having installed the "Developer Tools" from the Leopard DVD? Does anyone have a list of packages from the MacPorts (macports.org) collection that would be sure to get the job done?
20:45 < rxr> hm - I only tested it a little on osx some long time ago
20:45 < rxr> guess no data available yet
20:46 < rxr> (for your question)
20:47 < rxr> but should not be too hard to get it running
20:47 < rxr> oh tw. I think you will not need the dev tools, as IIRC OSX already comes with a gcc in the base install
20:47 < rxr> feel free to ask about problem when you run intothem here
20:48 < rxr> oh - and btw. what do you expect t2 to build on osx? emerge single packages like macports / fink or build a Linux system?
20:48 < rxr> (booth is possible ...)

21:16 < soopurman> i want to build the t2 installation discs
21:17 < soopurman> i've got my g5 dual booting leopard and fedora 10 beta right now
21:17 < soopurman> and i'm trying to build t2 from fedora, but it can't seem to find LVM2 on any mirrors
21:18 < soopurman> i know i should just give it time and try again later, but i want to be in OS X while i'm waiting, because F10 doesn't support my video card yet
21:19 < soopurman> and i want to hack on the video drivers, but i can't even get the source RPM to compile without modifications, let alone actually find and fix the problem
21:22 < soopurman> (i'm brand new to T2 btw. this is my first attempt at building / using it)
21:23 < soopurman> i tried the last (stable) 7.0-rc2 installer for T2 on the G5, but the kernel doesn't support all the power management stuff to control all the system fans, so they spin up to max which is just too annoying
21:50 < rxr> maybe grab a PPC pre-built iso then?
21:51 < rxr> if you want a full desktop linux building on osx will probably a lot of work
21:51 < rxr> btw. i run t2 on a lot of ppc stuff
21:52 < rxr> from the G4 cube to dual-core G5, likewise
21:56 < soopurman> hhmmm, it was my understanding that the G5 wouldn't even boot up on a 32bit kernel. is that not the case? as in, can I try and use http://dl.t2-project.org/binary/stable/7.0-rc2/minimal-powerpc/t2-7.0-rc2-minimal-powerpc.iso ?
21:56 < soopurman> is that what you mean?
22:29 < rxr> we have ppc64 isos
22:29 < rxr> the linux 32 bit kernele do not boot on a powerpc64, indeed
22:30 < rxr> http://dl.t2-project.org/binary/stable/7.0-rc2/minimal-powerpc64-g5/
22:30 < rxr> cu tomorrow - have to leave
22:31 < soopurman> cool, thanks. yeah, like i said, i tried that one but it didn't control the fans in my system correctly, which would be ok for a little while, but not they day-long compilation of a newer snapshot
