10:37 < mpp> hey rxr
11:15 < mpp> gotta run - cya
11:16 < rxr> cu

12:01 < rxr> neat - looks like I finally got glibc-2.7 under control ...
12:20 < rxr> load average: 8.53, 5.96, 3.73
12:20 < rxr> ok - pure laptop
12:20 * rxr going to continue the new VM install on the server ...
12:21 < rxr> so I do not have to missuse my local laptop for test builds ...
12:41 < rxr> wonderful, now x86 x86-64 and armeabi do build with glibc-2.7, but ppc is majorly broken ..
12:41 < rxr> what are those redhat^Wglibc folks thinking ...
12:41 < rxr> maybe it's time to start some sanne libc ...

14:15 < rxr> s/sanne/saner/
14:33 < koan> don't they test it on ppc???
14:34 < rxr> don't ask
14:36 < koan> too much companies think there's only x86(-64)
14:36 < koan> but red hat should know better
14:38 < rxr> one thing I learned in the last 15 years of open source hackery: the big companies and employees do only care about what they ship, nothing at all
14:38 < rxr> for glibc specifically, there is not even a 2.8 glibc tarball which already is tagged in their CVS for half a year or even longer now ...
14:38 < koan> let's hope ibm doesn't stop shipping ppc :)
14:38 < rxr> I doubt ... it's one of the big cash cows in the enterprise market
14:40 < koan> btw did you already find the error in my t2 ppc iso?
14:40 < rxr> no, but it will be very hard to track anyway, you build it on some debian, right? most probably something with the yaboot loader was just mixed or so
14:41 < koan> ok
14:41 < rxr> I can release a trunk PPC64 ISO if you like after the weekend
14:41 < koan> that would be nice
14:41 < rxr> I just test build with the glibc update on my G5
14:42 < koan> do you use trunk as your main desktop system?
14:43 < rxr> I usually use to emerge system updates from trunk, yes
14:43 < rxr> but my main "desktop" is a dual-core intel, not the G5
14:44 < koan> I have seen enough of T2 to consider using it as my main desktop system too, if it installs on my G5
