10:32 < d_oilen> hi
10:32 < mpp> hi
10:33 < d_oilen> if i want to mirror t2 packages how should i do that?
10:33 < d_oilen> i am allowed to do that?
10:35 < d_oilen> i would like to focus on stable versions like 7.0-rc2 because as far as i saw there are modifications on the internet regarding source packages and i want to setup an accurate mirror.
10:41 < d_oilen> well
10:42 < d_oilen> one question
10:45 < d_oilen> if i add in the 00-minimal.in of one target the packages i need will the build hanle the depemndancies?
10:46 < d_oilen> handle the dependencies *
10:56 < mpp> setting up an accurate mirror - just scripts/Download -cfg mycfg -required
10:56 < mpp> the download directory contains all dl'ed files
10:57 < mpp> deps are not handeled for build targets
10:57 < mpp> only emerging packages on the host do dep resolv
12:23 < d_oilen> tnx mpp
12:24 < mpp> np
12:24 < d_oilen> so if i add apache for example i should first try ./scripts/Emerge-pkg to see the deps
12:24 < mpp> exactly
12:24 < d_oilen> and after that add the required to the build
12:24 < mpp> in the /var/log/cache depend
12:25 < mpp> there is a file corresp. generated which lists all deps
12:25 < mpp> it is the package/rep/packname/packname.cache file
12:25 < d_oilen> tnx
12:25 < mpp> only on the host system
12:25 < mpp> i advice to read the manual on t2-project.org/
12:25 < mpp> it's kinda usefull
12:44 < d_oilen> but
12:45 < d_oilen> if the .cache file has the deps inside the build system should now about the deps?
12:45 < d_oilen> and build them automagically?
12:45 < mpp> not if you build a target
12:46 < mpp> the cache files only trigger the running host with emerge
12:46 < mpp> :-(
12:46 < d_oilen> that's ... a little strange
12:46 < mpp> anyways
12:46 < mpp> i also use a testsystem for new deps
12:46 < mpp> i copy the new cache files to the package/.... tree to have fresh deps
12:47 < mpp> or you could summ up all cache files from the Testsystem to have a complete list of deps
12:47 < d_oilen> good idea
12:47 < mpp> (thats how i go with it)
12:47 < mpp> i have written a small script to get the job done
12:48 < d_oilen> i was thinking of some sort of script to be run before actual Build-Target to check the final package selection and warn about needed deps
12:49 < d_oilen> and somehow add them...
12:49 < d_oilen> at least for newbies ...
12:53 < mpp> you can probably do that yourself ..
12:53 < mpp> have to go
12:53 < mpp> cya

19:37 < d_oilen> ok
19:37 < d_oilen> another question
19:38 < d_oilen> does anyone use apache+php+ somedb on T2 made distribution?
19:38 < d_oilen> because in packages there is no mod-php or mod_php
19:47 < d_oilen> mysql-5.0.51in default t2-7.0-rc2 is no longer at mysql.com URL. it can be found here http://mirror.provenscaling.com/mysql/community/source/5.0/
19:48 < rxr> the orignal sources for 7.0-trunk should be on our mirrors
19:48 < rxr> you shoudl be using t2/branches/7.0 instead of an older, tarball snapsh0ot
19:49 < rxr> cu later
19:49 < d_oilen> tnx
19:50 < rxr> btw. I'm very intersted in your x86 flash and co tips and findings
19:50 < d_oilen> k
19:50 < rxr> any notes welcome - just sent to the mailing list or to me
19:51 < rxr> if you have enough free time a whole "article" a-like writing would be more than welcome
19:51 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/zine/
19:51 < d_oilen> i will do that
19:51 < d_oilen> promise
19:51 < d_oilen> since i find T@ more than satisfying for my needs
19:52 < d_oilen> T2
19:52 < rxr> thats great to hear
19:52 < d_oilen> but for now i am trying to stick to the original downloaded t2-7.0-rc2
19:52 < d_oilen> i know that i am crazy but
19:52 < rxr> that's of course fine as well - though our T2 mirrors might not have all files anymore
19:53 < d_oilen> there are many guys that will simply download the tarball and try it out
19:53 < rxr> the mirrors are "big enought" already and they stay on the top of the branches
19:53 < rxr> with no longer references files wiped after 6 months or so
19:53 < d_oilen> well
19:53 < d_oilen> you know the problem is like this
19:53 < rxr> yeah - we finally hvae to tag 7.0.0 and also push 8.0 out soon
19:53 < d_oilen> or at least as i see it
19:53 < rxr> yeah - I know the problem
19:53 < d_oilen> you want to try it out
19:54 < rxr> get the last release tarball and some downloads error out :-(
19:54 < d_oilen> and see if it works for you
19:54 < d_oilen> yeah
19:54 < d_oilen> that is the point
19:54 < d_oilen> well
19:54 < d_oilen> menay guys will go for snapshot
19:54 < d_oilen> many
19:54 < d_oilen> but they will usually try the first tarball
19:55 < rxr> yeah
19:55 < rxr> guess we had more release snapshots in the past
19:55 < d_oilen> it's "not good for the image"
19:55 < rxr> we have to get up to speed and release earla and often again :-)
19:55 < rxr> early even
19:55 < rxr> ok - gotta dinner - cu then
19:56 < d_oilen> k
19:56 < d_oilen> have a nice dinner
20:13 < d_oilen> rxr since rc2 cannot build anything without perl properly installed you should issue a rc3 with perl fixed or replace the rc2 with one that works. that is the most important thing right now.
20:14 < d_oilen> since you recommend building inside T2
