13:06 < michael-i> some patches finally ready: 1) patch to resolve gettext failing due to a missing _error_print_progname symbol when compiling for blackfin (http://pastebin.ca/1347714)
13:09 < michael-i> 2) updating /package/base/uclibc/patches/bison-30-warn_redefined.patch to apply cleanly to the new bison version
13:09 < michael-i> http://pastebin.ca/1347717
14:17 < mpp> anyone else built a minimal target on trunk ?
14:17 < mpp> i narrowed it down ...
14:18 < mpp> since the coreutils update some packages fail with libtool
14:18 < mpp> for now reverting to previous version helps ( but that's bad style i guess)

15:10 < koan> http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/linuxdna-supercharges-linux-intel-cc-compiler
15:13 < rxr> yeah - bean there, done that - we have rotting ICC support in T2
15:13 < rxr> some 5 years ago we noticed the barely noticable in-kernel performance gain is not really worth it
15:13 < rxr> and due to the license key debakle our icc package is not really up-to-date (even though I got a license from Intel ...)
15:14 < rxr> http://t2-project.org/packages/icc.html
15:19 < koan> :)
15:19 < rxr> you'll barely notice
15:19 < rxr> their 40% are in micro benchmarks, not reall world usage
15:19 < koan> they talk about 8-9% on average
15:20 < rxr> where you notice the ICC (but GCC-4.x got super duper anyway) is innner loop stuff of multimedia and science stuff
15:20 < rxr> yeah - and 8-9% of a barely running kernel is nothing ...
15:20 < rxr> mostly (hopefully) your user-space apps will run
15:20 < rxr> and do their works
15:20 < rxr> -s
15:20 < rxr> that's where using ICC can show something
15:20 < rxr> thoug GCC-4.3 got pretty decent anyway
15:29 < mpp> zile is broke in trunk
15:29 < rxr> maybe git merge error likewise?
15:30 < mpp> nope
15:30 < mpp> complains about long long type in malloca.h
15:30 < mpp> and a dozen of other simillar errors
15:31 < rxr> hm
15:31 < mpp> ill check with reverting just to make sure
15:31 < mpp> but that's trunk
15:31 < mpp> so no complains ..
15:31 < rxr> :-=
15:33 < mpp> if we could get distcc fixed
15:33 < mpp> it would be easier to have an autmated build cluster
15:33 < mpp> therefore could have more sane trunk
15:34 < mpp> unfortunately distcc fails on stage-1 building gcc
15:34 < mpp> i'll reshedule with a trunk build to see if this issue is still there
15:34 < mpp> distcc really boosts the build process alot
15:35 < rxr> have you tried with t2?
15:35 < rxr> the big problem is that most stuff is serial anyway, unpack; configure; make install ...
15:35 < rxr> that's most of the time
15:36 < rxr> the tiny parallel area already quite scales to multi-cores
15:36 < mpp> yes . but i have some blades at my disposal so - you get the picture
15:36 < mpp> k reverting zile compiled fine
15:37 < mpp> :-)
15:38 < mpp> building x gnome and kde stuff is really a breeze with distcc
