09:39 < koan> I thought the same when I read the news
09:40 < koan> really a pity
09:41 < rxr> yeah
09:42 < rxr> I have a 1st gen PS3 (I think)
09:42 < rxr> was waiting for the slim to save energy, look better near the tv ...
09:42 < rxr> but given this, ...
09:42 < rxr> I guess I'll stay with the energy wasting model ...
09:42 < rxr> maybe a salar panel on the balcony would compensate
09:42 < koan> I also thought about buying the anticipated PS3 Slim to install Linux on it and using it near the tv, but without Linux I have no interest
09:43 < rxr> I find it also not so "nice" that it has normal pastic push buttons, now - in contrast to the neat sensor touch things
09:43 < koan> I still have a PS2 Slim, but no idea if I can install Linux on it easily :)
09:43 < rxr> ps3 was my first console ever, actually i brought it as workstaion for the office
09:43 < koan> :)
09:43 < rxr> too bad the memory shortage did not let it life up my expectations
09:44 < rxr> since then it's a nice blue ray player ...
09:44 < rxr> that is I got 2 blue rays ... but you guess you got the theory ..
09:44 < koan> :)
09:45 < rxr> btw. I find it quite irritating that you can not turn off (my) PS3 with a remote control button
09:45 < rxr> I really wonder why they have no "power off / standby" button on this seperately sold ps3 bluetooth remote ...
09:45 < koan> hm sounds annoying indeed
09:45 < rxr> but then again, maybe I'm either just blind or too stupid for a console ...
09:46 < rxr> ok - given google's first hit:
09:46 < rxr> http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStation-3-Blu-ray-Disc-Remote/dp/B000M17AVO
09:46 < rxr> others write this as well - so it's probably not me :-)
09:46 < koan> let me guess, you have to buy an expensive remote? :)
09:47 < rxr> "Missing completely is a power button!! You have to hit the PS button in the center and go through the regular PS3 menus to get the power to turn off. In fact, while I was writing this review, I accidentally hit a button on the remote and the PS3 turned on. We were watching regular TV, so now I have to wait until our show is over, switch over to the PS3 and use the buttons to turn the system back off again. That doesn't make much sense at all to me. "
09:47 < rxr> koan: well, not have to, you can buy the 30EUR (I think it was) remote for convienience
09:47 < rxr> I could have watched blue ray with the ps3 game controller ...
09:47 < rxr> but a regular remote felt more compelling :-)
09:48 < koan> :)

10:52 < mtr> we already path some other c++ includes in
10:52 < mtr> package/base/gcc/stdc++-include_next.patch
10:52 < mtr> what do you think about extending this patch for limits.h ?
10:53 < rxr> sure - if needed
10:53 < rxr> I have the feeling for latest greated gcc's we should fix / adapt / tweak some base path for a more correct search order by default
10:53 < rxr> but feel free to fix another header as needed for now
10:53 < rxr> (as I also do not really have time to review this gcc path mess in the next days, ...)
10:54 < mtr> gcc 4.4.1 ?
10:54 < rxr> no - I mean for the one we have
10:55 < mtr> for 4.3 I'd like to workaround this path issue, already spent some hours on the cross include path issues
10:55 < mtr> without success ...
10:55 < rxr> yes, that's what I meant above ...
10:55 < rxr> just patch
10:55 < rxr> I didnot notive they have 4.4.1, now
10:55 < rxr> maybe it's less broken then 4.4.0 and we could update ...
10:55 < rxr> (but not now, anyway)
10:56 < mtr> 4.4.1 released on July 22nd
10:56 < rxr> yeah - I just see, I missed it ...
10:56 < mtr> .oO a lot of patch review ahead
10:56 < rxr> but 4.4.0 was too broken anyway ...
10:56 < rxr> so I did not particularly eyed that series, yet
10:57 < mtr> ok
11:16 < rxr> oh - did not even know after they removed the ps2 emotion engine chip after the 1st gen PS3 models, they even dropped the sofware emulation since the 3rd gen series?

11:51 < mtr> there is a gconf regression at t2@trunk: polkit-dbus is missing
11:53 < CIA-69> rene * r33902 /trunk/package/gnome2/devhelp/devhelp.desc: * updated devhelp (0.23 -> 0.23.1)
11:53 < CIA-69> mtr * r33903 /trunk/package/develop/policykit/policykit.desc:
11:53 < CIA-69> * changed policykit build priority (147.309 -> 140.500):
11:53 < CIA-69> build before gconf
11:53 < CIA-69> mtr * r33904 /trunk/package/audio/taglib/taglib.desc: * force taglib build using cmake
11:55 < CIA-69> mtr * r33905 /trunk/package/base/gcc/stdc++-include_next.patch: * extend gcc stdc++-include_next.patch to fix limits.h inclusion as well
11:56 < CIA-69> mtr * r33906 /trunk/package/multimedia/mms/mms.desc: * updated mms (1.1.0-rc9 -> 1.1.1)
11:59 < mtr> rxr: I have locally updated linux-header to 2.6.30 to get the new DVB-API 3.3 multiproto headers
12:00 < rxr> the what? :-)
12:00 < rxr> anyway, if you get useful build results you might commit that :-)
12:00 < rxr> hope it doesn't break too many other non x86 architectures
12:01 < mtr> ok, that would have been my question ;-)
12:02 < mtr> I do not have so much non-x86 test platforms available
12:03 < rxr> well - cross build tests nicely
12:03 < rxr> but - well, trunk is a little messed now anyway, I would say if x86 mostly builds then commit it ...
12:03 < rxr> guess I have to schedule some mr. propper weekend ...
12:03 < rxr> now that attr acl is even more broken then before ...
12:03 < mtr> I'll do cross builds for avr32, arm and mips
12:03 < rxr> and mpp reported some regressions ...
12:03 < rxr> mtr: with the updated headers?
12:04 < rxr> how that's something, if they are fine flush it :-)
12:05 < mtr> ok, however it'll take some more days to finish and verify the builds ...
12:07 < mtr> the attr error is really strange:
12:07 < mtr> Core was generated by `cp libattr.so.1.1.0 //lib/libattr.so.1.1.0'.
12:07 < mtr> Program terminated with signal 7, Bus error.
12:08 < rxr> that is esy
12:08 < rxr> cp does probably alter the binary while it is mapped into memory
12:08 < rxr> thus the running program is changed and ABORTs
12:08 < rxr> it must ust install (or mv) to replace program executables ...
12:08 * rxr lunch - cu
12:49 < CIA-69> mtr * r33907 /trunk/package/base/attr/install-instead-cp.patch:
12:49 < CIA-69> * patched attr to use install instead of cp
12:49 < CIA-69> (fixes install bus error)

15:00 < mpp> i guess this does relate to the ext2fs uuid stuff

16:33 < mtr> rxr: btw, I do not get t2-svn mails since end of July, anything wrong with the list?
16:33 < rxr> not that I know of

16:34 < mtr> I get daily mails for t2-updates
