11:10 < mpp> moinsen
11:10 < rxr> moin moin
11:11 < mpp> rxr: got a generic question about t2 on x86 platform
11:11 < rxr> .oO (yes?)
11:11 < mpp> have you succesfully loaded linux drivers that require firmware ?
11:11 < mpp> i have a huge problem with that
11:11 < rxr> in the past yes
11:11 < mpp> since the bnx2 module has been modified to load external firmware files
11:11 < rxr> adaptex usb2xchange scsi cable, dvb-t receiver etc.
11:12 < mpp> the driver does not load anymore
11:12 < rxr> but not with t2/trunk in the last month
11:12 < rxr> hm
11:12 < rxr> during boot ?
11:12 < mpp> can you recall the latest version working for u ?
11:12 < mpp> ahm not exactly
11:12 < mpp> for now i have the rescue initramfs target
11:13 < mpp> but despite the fact the firmware is in the propper locations
11:13 < mpp> they are not loaded....
11:13 < mpp> i suspect sysfs udev issues ....
11:13 < mpp> that's why i asked if you have successfully loaded modules with ext. firmware files in the past
11:13 < rxr> I'm right now preparing to release all-cross-built minimal ISOs
11:14 < mpp> k
11:14 < rxr> and plan to test them when I tweak HEAD to cross build whole isos
11:14 < mpp> great
11:14 < rxr> so I can build all esoteric fluff on the 8-core in the future
11:14 < mpp> i'll keep u posted on that since it is mainstream hp servers
11:14 < rxr> (and not wait for e.g. the 360MHz UltraSPARC ... for a release)
11:14 < mpp> alot of people use those ... :-)
11:15 < rxr> and I plan to get a "netbook" on the win7 release day
11:15 < rxr> and wanted to test t2 trunk isos then
11:15 < mpp> i read about it
11:15 < mpp> k
11:15 < rxr> that's some days off though, ... like oct 22nd
11:15 < mpp> np
11:15 < rxr> http://rene.rebe.name/2009-10-01/the-device-vacuum-introduced-by-windows-7/
11:15 < rxr> though if you find one given me a Nokia Booklet before the 22nd I'll do the trunk testing immediately ... :-)
11:16 < rxr> the next days I wanted to take a look a cross build isos first
11:17 < rxr> guess I'll also need a new, AMD server
11:17 < mpp> :-)
11:17 < mpp> cool
11:17 < rxr> the Intel VT is just wasting too many CPU cylces
11:18 < mpp> that is correct
11:18 < rxr> 8way Xeon only deliver like 4core performance with KVM :-(
11:18 < mpp> VT is slow !!!
11:18 < rxr> yeah, I know
11:18 < rxr> probably told so quite some times here over the last year ...
11:18 < rxr> do you use KVM at work ?
11:32 < mpp> nope
11:32 < mpp> vmware mainly
12:46 < rxr> ic
12:57 < rxr> cu - lunch

22:45 < cb88> has anyone tried to build T2 for SPARC lately? I tried building for SPARC v8 first since it is a supersparc but the build failed early on with GCC ... I'm doing a Pentium II build right now its in stage 5 building the kernel so I doubt it is a problem with my system
22:46 < cb88> SPARC32 that is
