20:14 < mj-netbits_> error on build util-linux on my ubuntu. i build a i686 32Bit system (no cross)
20:14 < mj-netbits_> configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --disable-debug, --without-libpam, --disable-libpam, --disable-pam
20:14 < mj-netbits_> You must have autopoint installed to generate util-linux-ng build system..
20:14 < mj-netbits_> Download the appropriate package for your distribution,or see http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext
20:15 < mj-netbits_> what is autopoint?
20:15 < rxr> no idea :-)
20:15 < rxr> in which stage does this happen ?
20:15 < mj-netbits_> 1
20:15 < rxr> something, new?, from gettext?
20:15 < rxr> not seen this yet
20:16 < mj-netbits_> hmm i install gettext and check this again
20:16 < rxr> in theory we should build all "strange stuff" the packages require in the toolchain stage (0)
20:17 < mj-netbits_> hmm
20:19 < mj-netbits_> its strange after i install gettext the build is successfully
20:25 < cb88> rxr I have been trying to build a 32bit sparc install disk I have gotten as far as embutils and get stuck there
20:28 < cb88> I looked in the embutils build directory and ran the debug.sh script .... it was complaining about setResuid and setResgiud or similar which were defined in the includes so Its a bit beyond my understanding to fix it since I can't find what is broken
20:29 < cb88> this was a sparc v7 geneic bootstrap build ... I also tried adding the O emutils and O dietlibc rules but that too didn't seem to help.
20:29 < rxr> hm, I built "kind-of" sparc"32" as part of my regular sparc64 builds, which due to historic reasons defaults to 32bit user-land
20:29 < cb88> right..
20:30 < rxr> maybe I should give a plain sparc"32" a test build to catch unexpected typos :-)
20:30 < cb88> sparc v8 fails early on with gcc
20:30 < rxr> hm
20:30 -!- mj-netbits_ [n=mj-netbi@213.174.252.112] has quit [Remote closed the connection]
20:31 < cb88> thats why I was building for v7 to begin with... also I can't seem to get on the mailing list as it would probably be more apropriate for such discussions
20:31 < cb88> I have tried 2 different emails with no sucess
20:32 < rxr> v7 will have a _huge_ performance hti, due to the absense of hardware multiple & divide, ...
20:32 < rxr> you know what, I got some sparc station in the cellar :-)
20:32 < cb88> yes but at least it would run....
20:32 < rxr> v7, 40MHz, 24MB (or so) RAM :)
20:32 < cb88> sun-4 is it?
20:33 < rxr> I schedule a pure sparc test build on our server once the reference64 (x86-64) is thru
20:33 < cb88> I am intending to boot this up on a couple ss10 boxes at school one of them is mine
20:33 < rxr> cb88: what kind of hardwrae do you target ?
20:33 < cb88> sun-4m i believe is what the sparcstation 10 is
20:33 < rxr> cb88: equally fast as mine, or faster than 40MHz ?
20:33 < cb88> I have an sm-51 which runs at 50mhz
20:34 < cb88> far more ram than what is probably in yours
20:34 < cb88> maxes out at 512 and most of the ram slots are full...
20:34 < rxr> hm, looking at the google pics I think it's an SS10 in my cellear
20:34 < cb88> cool
20:34 < rxr> and mine definetly was v7 anyway, no hardware mul/div etc., so slower than the low 40MHz already indicate :-)
20:34 < cb88> the ss 20 is a bit better though
20:35 < cb88> you must have a cypress cpu then...
20:35 < rxr> fastest (only) sparc in the office is a 360MHz Ultra 5
20:35 < rxr> PC'ish and no really fast as well :-)
20:35 < rxr> sounds familliar
20:35 < rxr> it's been some 4 years it was last powered up
20:36 < rxr> on mine SS10 or what it was I flexed out the case where the floppy lives, carefully placed a SCSI CD-Rom at the place :-)

20:38 < rxr> cb88: the AMD Opteron based ?
20:39 < rxr> I had a T1000 for some weeks, unfortunatly Sun wanted it back
20:39 < cb88> no should have been sparc... not 100% sure though it was a Cat scan box before he got it I think
20:39 < rxr> despite the "you blog you keep it promotion" :-(
20:39 < rxr> but the T1000 was LLOOUUDD anyway, ...
20:39 < cb88> heh...
20:40 < rxr> http://t2-project.org/hardware/server/Sun/T1000/
20:40 < cb88> about the mailing list any idea why I'm not getting anything back from it?

20:52 < rxr> yeah, will be my first thanksgiving ;-) and first nyc visit
20:52 < cb88> well I will be around ... I have to head out on a trip actually now though

20:53 < rxr> cu then
20:53 < rxr> gotta go, too
20:53 < cb88> well I'll try poking around the sparc build some more... but I also working on a MIPS processor design project so time might be scarce late in the semester cya
20:53 < rxr> :-) cu
20:54 < cb88> suthurners say cya lol
