09:45 < rxr> :-)
09:45 < Baldzius> fancy one with alarm and remote start up
09:45 < rxr> oh
09:46 < Baldzius> it scared me a lot when yesterday it started up itself and ran for 2 hours :)
09:46 < rxr> oh, how's that?
09:46 < Baldzius> must accidentaly pressed the button when was puting keys in the pocket
09:46 < Baldzius> and I thought that was neighbours car running outside :)
09:47 < Baldzius> it was covered from rain and going down I though "now it's full in flames" :)
09:47 < Baldzius> but all was ok
09:47 < Baldzius> luckily :)
09:51 < CIA-32> rene * r35441 /trunk/package/perl/perl-mailtools/perl-mailtools.desc: * updated perl-mailtools (2.05 -> 2.06)
09:51 < CIA-32> rene * r35442 /trunk/package/base/linux24/linux24.desc: * updated linux24 (2.4.37.7 -> 2.4.37.8)
09:53 < rxr> Baldzius: how much cpu, memory do you need in your t2 vm ?
09:54 < CIA-32> rene * r35443 /trunk/package/archiver/libzip/libzip.desc: * updated libzip (0.9.1 -> 0.9.2)
09:55 < CIA-32> rene * r35444 /trunk/package/base/pciutils/pciutils.desc: * updated pciutils (3.1.6 -> 3.1.7)
09:56 < Baldzius> rxr: not sure
09:56 < Baldzius> you know, I am not a very demanding person :)
09:57 < rxr> heh
09:57 < rxr> hew hw arrived, will work on getting the vm back online soonish
09:59 < Baldzius> super
10:00 < Baldzius> I think you can give me something minimal like 1cpu and maybe 256-512 memorry
10:00 < Baldzius> I will start screamming it it's too narrow
10:00 < Baldzius> if*
10:00 < rxr> na, that's too low for halfly quick t2 builds
10:00 < rxr> 2cpu, gig of mem are maximum
10:00 < rxr> err minimum
10:02 < Baldzius> how much mem you got in total?
10:02 < rxr> 8GB on each VM server
10:02 < rxr> memory is the biggest issue for virtuaization, though
10:02 < Baldzius> what was the cpu you ordered?
10:02 < Baldzius> phenomII ?
10:03 < rxr> the Mac Pro memory also is so expensive, ... and the AMD board I get for evaluation might max out at 8 ...
10:03 < Baldzius> oh
10:03 < rxr> 905e
10:03 < rxr> going green :-)
10:03 < Baldzius> I think new boards come with 16
10:03 < rxr> it's a compact board, ...
10:03 < Baldzius> ic
10:03 < rxr> it had to match certain project requirements
10:04 < rxr> (mini-itx :-)
10:04 < Baldzius> mini & green :)
10:06 < rxr> trunk looks quite nice, doesn't it ?

10:08 < Baldzius> don't know, haven't compiled it in months :)
10:08 < rxr> ough
10:08 < rxr> due vm outage ?
10:08 < Baldzius> (nod)
10:10 < rxr> ic
10:10 < rxr> ok I hurry, finally the hw is here, so
10:10 < rxr> another question, I guess you used mysql on t2?
10:11 < rxr> was the initial databse setup too raw?
10:17 < rxr> pff http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/31/stephen-colbert-has-an-ipad/
10:25 < Baldzius> mysql? inside vm?
10:25 < rxr> no in general
10:26 < Baldzius> oh
10:26 < Baldzius> yeah, for some web servers with php
10:26 < rxr> is mysql too hard / unusual to get running on t2 ?
10:26 < Baldzius> basically I never changed a thing, so I was running it as it came
10:26 < Baldzius> no
10:27 < Baldzius> phpmyadmin might help you also
10:27 < Baldzius> there's a howto in ML
10:27 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/irclogs/t2-2010-01-29.html
10:27 < rxr> yeah, I certainly do not need it :-)
10:28 < Baldzius> I think there's a trick needed
10:28 < rxr> I'll try to make it esier
10:28 < rxr> mkdir the dir in the package
10:28 < Baldzius> something with permissions
10:28 < rxr> postinstall run mysql_install_db or so
10:28 < Baldzius> and yes, you need to start one script
10:28 < Baldzius> yep that one I think
10:28 < rxr> yeah
10:28 < Baldzius> but it's pretty easy doing all that manually
10:28 < rxr> never heared a coomplaint until this saturday or what it was
10:28 < Baldzius> just I keep forgeting the steps :)
10:29 < Baldzius> so I wrote mini howto
10:29 < rxr> the thing always boils down to: I simply down't know how it is on other dists, e.g. Ubuntu :-)
10:29 < Baldzius> mostly for myself :)
10:29 < rxr> I'm on the raw-like-sushi way of T2 (and ROCK) for some decade, ...
10:30 < Baldzius> that's what I like too
10:30 < Baldzius> somehow I find Ubuntu very hard to manage
10:30 < rxr> I also heared complaints from friends at uni jobs etc.
10:30 < rxr> something new broken every work
10:31 < rxr> some stuff hidden under so many layers of abstraction and UI that you never find thru to fix something
10:31 < rxr> etc. pp.
10:31 < rxr> and some automatics always working against your manually tuned things, from wlan to anything
10:33 < rxr> I'll mkdir and chown the mysql localstatedir and add this mysql "administrative internal db" creation into a postinstall script
10:33 < rxr> hopefully that addresses the issue well enough
10:38 < Baldzius> I should be able to test when you commit
11:00 < CIA-32> rene * r35445 /trunk/package/multimedia/vlc/vlc.desc: * updated vlc (1.0.4 -> 1.0.5)

12:27 < rxr> Baldzius: btw. we're now listed on the Haskell GHC site: http://haskell.org/ghc/distribution_packages.html#t2
12:32 < Baldzius> nice
12:34 < rxr> (need to polish that package a little more, though :-)
12:34 < rxr> so - lunch - cu
