11:31 < Baldzius> rxr: what are you going to do about gerardo's xfce patch?
11:32 < Baldzius> I'd say we should ask him to send it as one patch? no?
11:33 < rxr> well, in the past I was pretty open to any chane format, including unpacking zips :-)
11:33 < rxr> I really hate the general patch-mania as dictated by Torvalds and many open source projects
11:33 < rxr> however, these tons of git patches indeed get on my nerves and is the reason I have not yet processed the last many-patch-mail
11:34 < rxr> however, I think, I just do, now
11:34 < rxr> I really don't want to annoy contributors away (as Linus does)
11:35 < Baldzius> :)
11:35 < rxr> what really annoys me, too, is that my 2 Macs on ebay did not bring the expected money, damnit
11:35 < rxr> guess I have to keep them as the low prices people currently bid are rediculous
11:36 < rxr> one is a very expensive 8-core MacPro, ... :-(
11:36 < rxr> wanted to exhange it in favour of 4 AMD equipped boxes :-)
11:37 < rxr> likewise annoying is that AMD is not yet delivering 95W Phenom X6's :-(((
11:37 < Baldzius> bummer, that's why I always buy relatively *cheap* stuff
11:37 < rxr> well, historically apple products kept more of their price
11:37 < Baldzius> like core 2 duo laptop with VT for 300 euro
11:37 < rxr> at PowerPC times
11:37 < rxr> when I brought the hardware just to get the PowerPC of it for Linuux
11:38 < rxr> however, in the Intel days, and I bet due to the recession, too, and the iPad jsut being out and people throwing their hard earned money at it it's apparently harder to get rid of used Apple hardware :-(((
11:38 < Baldzius> yeah, everyone now wants Android
11:38 < rxr> also, for me, ebay always was strange, when I want to buy something, like a Sgi O2 MIPS64, or Transmeta Efficieon stuff, whtaever, the prices are always insanely high, and when I tick something away one barely get's money out of it
11:39 < rxr> pretty strange ebay world
11:39 < Baldzius> my manager can't stop playing with it, got 2 weeks ago :)
11:39 < rxr> then, probably, people are certanily often cheating with friends bidding in, ...
11:39 < Baldzius> could be
11:39 < rxr> which is als why I'm registered at ebay since the early days, and have just 28 or so voting stars
11:39 < CIA-30> aldas * r36497 /trunk/package/develop/mapnik/ (libtool-fix.patch mapnik.desc): * updated mapnik (0.5.1 -> 0.7.1)
11:40 < rxr> and my 2y younger brother, got way later into ebay, has some whooping 450 whatever ...
11:40 < Baldzius> :)
11:40 < rxr> selling off every single music CD after not liking that group anymore certainly helps on that
11:41 < rxr> oh, and a zillion of apple hardware that had more scratches or issues then initially listed and thus reselling them again, often for more than the initial purchase price
11:41 < rxr> some people are really good in ebay ...
11:43 < Baldzius> :)
11:43 < Baldzius> everyone's goo at something
11:43 < Baldzius> good*
11:46 < CIA-30> aldas * r36498 /trunk/package/x11/gpsdrive/gpsdrive.desc: * updated gpsdrive (2.10pre6 -> 2.10pre7)
11:47 < rxr> but well, the latest apple hardware does not match up with my superelevated hardware expectations, you may have noticed: superelevated
11:47 < rxr> err
11:48 < rxr> http://rene.rebe.de/2009-10-29/yes-we-can-mac-os-x-on-nokia-booklet-3g/
11:50 < Baldzius> yeah, was following it
11:52 < Baldzius> how your SSD works?
11:52 < rxr> oh pretty fine
11:52 < Baldzius> I have a laptop with problematic hdd but don't want to invest in it as lcd is crappy :/
11:53 < rxr> before the z-series Atom really felt pretty slowly
11:53 < Baldzius> and ssd is way too expensive for me
11:53 < rxr> under any OS
11:53 < rxr> (e.g. also Linux, Windows)
11:53 < Baldzius> which one you have now?
11:53 < Baldzius> N?
11:53 < rxr> you mean which atom ß
11:53 < Baldzius> yeah
11:53 < rxr> Z530 or so
11:53 < rxr> the lower-power atoms
11:53 < Baldzius> ic
11:54 < rxr> especialyl the memory hub appears to be even less performing than the regular atoms ...
11:54 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/hardware/portable/Nokia/Booklet-3G/
11:54 < rxr> and the 1.8" HD built in by Nokia was one of the slowest on the market
11:54 < rxr> though particularly shock resistent
11:54 < rxr> auto-spin downed every few second
11:54 < rxr> so most mouse clicks in any OS hat to spin on some file system object ioctl until the stupid HD spun up again
11:55 < rxr> with the SSD regular (read abroad) email and browsing use is way more pleasuant
11:55 < rxr> most funny thing is - the unaccelerated graphic on that Booklet on Mac OS X (due to GMA 500 driver, just like under Linux, ...) is faster than the accelerated windows
11:56 < rxr> Aero feels so laggy on that thing it's hilarious
11:56 < rxr> no idea what absolutely sucking software stack Microsoft and Intel built there, ...
11:56 < rxr> so maybe it's just the Intel GMA500 PowerVR drivers sucking like nothing else ...
11:56 < rxr> have no other Windows to compare
11:58 < rxr> oh, and it sucks (as susual with brain damaged vendors) that the Booklet has the hardware silicon VT turned off in the BIOS by the relevant MSR
11:58 < rxr> guess I have to disassemble the BIOS next and fllip the VT bit in that MSR (Model Specific Register)
11:59 < rxr> been there, done that: http://rene.rebe.de/2009-04-20/sonyw-pc-bios-madness/
12:04 < Baldzius> :)
