03:45 < Toonami> I'm trying to build the desktop target, but it fails with package gnome2/orbit2.
03:50 < Toonami> In 0-oribit2.err I see No package 'libIDL-2.0' found.

11:20 < rogermason> Hello all. I built the desktop target (i686) in trunk yesterday and I'm working through the errors. xf86-video-openchrome fails in configure with this error: configure:11744: error: possibly undefined macro: AS_MESSAGE_LOG_FDdnl. There is some discussion here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=611781.
11:33 < rxr> re
11:34 < rxr> yeah, the openchrome is not such a perfect driver in any case
11:34 < rxr> do you have VIA hardware?
11:40 < rogermason> Maybe. I have various machines. lspci would tell me for the build machine - it is not in the package matrix. Is it included in another package?
11:41 < rxr> what is not in the package matrix ß
11:41 < rogermason> lspci
11:42 < rxr> lspci is in pciutils or so
11:42 < rxr> you shoudl be able to search for those tools in the t2 site's "Google custom search"
11:42 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/packages/pciutils.html
11:46 < rogermason> Thanks I was looking under the name lspci.
11:47 < rxr> use the top right corner search lspci brought up pciutils as #1 hit
11:48 < rogermason> Duh! Thanks.
11:49 < rxr> and a general note, best click on some ads here and there that interest you while at it :-)
11:50 < rogermason> I re-emerged pciutils but lspci still returns "command not found".
11:55 < rxr> as root or user?
11:56 < rxr> baldzius: lxde/lxrandr is another inf. looper
12:02 < rogermason> rxr: as root. But it turns out i had su'd without the appended '-' option. The machine has nvidia hardware.
12:02 < rxr> I'll try to fix some more obscure errors, such as this openchrome one
12:03 < rogermason> I should focus on the errors that are important to me perhaps, but I thought it usefult to report back.
12:05 < rogermason> Here's one. emacs: configure: error: Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
12:18 < rogermason> Aha. The problem building emacs tracks back through gtk+, which fails because libtiff fails with this: checking host system type... i686-t2-linux-gnu
12:18 < rogermason> checking target system type... Invalid configuration `X': machine `X' not recognized
12:18 < rogermason> configure: error: /bin/sh config/config.sub X failed
12:43 < rxr> strange error, I think I'v not yet seen such a thing :-(
13:04 -!- mtr [~michael@v29762.1blu.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
13:09 < rogermason> If I cd to src.libtiff..., ./debug.sh, cd tiff-3.9.4, ./configure, make, then it configures and compiles without error.
13:12 < rxr> it probably has a problem with sonething in the $confopt
13:12 < rxr> confifgure is run like: eval ./configure $confotp $extraconfopt
13:13 < rxr> hm - libtiff builds for me on all servers
13:13 < rxr> can you upload your whole .err log somewhere ?
13:28 < rogermason> http://filebin.ca/sdgyaf/5-libtiff.err
13:35 < rxr> there are some X's in the configure line
13:35 < rxr> did you add any manual config stuff to the Configß
13:36 < rxr> or what other changes have you done to the config?
13:36 < rxr> X lilo X syslinux
13:36 < rxr> there are package selection rules in the config
13:36 < rxr> can you tar me your config directory=
13:36 < rxr> ?
13:37 < rxr> any change you inserted this selection rules under "custom configure options" ?
13:41 < rogermason> http://filebin.ca/hkpogs/syslinux_minimal.tar.gz
13:47 < rogermason> I selected lilo & syslinux by setting 'Custome package selection' and using 'Edit package selection rules'.
13:48 < rxr> # grep syslinux *
13:48 < rxr> config:export SDECFG_CONFIGURE_OPTS='X lilo X syslinux '
13:49 < rxr> as I thought, don't know how they got in their beside you may have entered them in the custom configure options earlier?
13:49 < rxr> you can just edit that config file with an editor, removing those and conginue your libtiff build
13:49 < rxr> hope that helps, have to go in a second

14:28 < koan> 13:49:33 < rxr> hope that helps, have to go in a second
14:28 < Baldzius> :)
14:29 < Baldzius> it's 13:28 here :)
14:29 < koan> oh 14:29 here :)
14:29 < koan> Brussels time
14:29 < Baldzius> looks like same for Berlin
14:30 < koan> uhm so one of us has the wrong time?
14:30 < Baldzius> no, I am in IE
14:31 < koan> oh yes, now I see your .ie hostmask :-)
14:31 < koan> I always thought your name sounded German :-)
14:32 < koan> (nickname)
14:33 < Baldzius> really? it's actually Lithuanian, means furniture-maker
15:15 < pabelanger> Is it possible to setup conflicts between t2 packages? It seems busybox and e2fsprogs have shared binaries.
15:16 < pabelanger> http://pastebin.com/SJyc4kJh
15:27 -!- pabelanger [~pabelange@yoda.kanatek.com] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
15:27 < rxr> yes, it is possible to combinations that clobber each other's files
15:27 < rxr> it's up to the developping user to deal with this
15:30 < rogermason> rxr: update. libtiff compiled fine. Several other packages that failed have also compiled. So, what is the correct means to select additional packages in .scripts/Config?
15:34 < rxr> well, it was the correct meaning, just in the wrong config option
15:34 < rxr> you have them and others in the pkgsel file with the rules
15:34 < rxr> I can only guess that you tried to add them to this "extra configure options" option initially
15:36 < rogermason> Well, I dunno what I did wrong. Which file _should_they be in, pkgsel?
15:39 < rxr> yes, and you have the pkgsel
15:39 < rxr> when you edit them in the Config custom package selection they are also supposed to end up in that pkgsel file
15:43 < rogermason> OK. If the same problem arises again, I now know where to look. Once again, thanks for you help.

20:15 < bender> could someone tell me, how a embedded system created with t2 could be simply updated?
20:28 < Baldzius> never done that before
20:29 < Baldzius> mostly I update packages I want/need
20:30 < Baldzius> but there's an option in Emerge-Pkg if you use same config
20:30 < Baldzius> I think it's -update or -upgrade
20:30 < Baldzius> but I would test it first how it works
